What is Picrew? How to play and Make Picrew?

Table of Contents

Picrew is a service that creates and plays with image makers. You can download the created image for free or show it to everyone on SNS.

What is the “play” function?

You can create your own images and characters by combining various parts. Image makers include Kisekae makers and random makers.

Kisekae Maker can choose the parts by himself and create his favorite image. Random makers create images with luck! You can play with it.

How to play Picrew

At Picrew, you can play with various image makers created by creators. Find your favorite image maker, such as getting rid of it or changing your character’s clothes, and play with it.

What I want you to protect

Images created by Picrew’s Image Maker may only be used to the extent permitted by the creator and Picrew.

play_kieskae_info

Creators can choose the range of permission from the following. You can also write a request to the player in the description of the image maker.
Please check what kind of usage is permitted and read the request from the creator carefully before using it.

SNS icons, header images, use on personal sites and blogs, printing and using by yourself, etc.
2.Non-commercialIf it is non-commercial, it can be used for purposes other than personal use.
Applications that are intended for use by third parties, use in web services, printed matter that is intended for distribution, etc.
However, even non-commercial use cannot be used mainly for images.
3.CommercialIt can be used for commercial purposes such as websites and printed matter.
However, it cannot be used mainly for images.
Four.processingYou can change the color, add drawings, and so on.

Regardless of the content described by the creator, all image makers are allowed to play images, download images, and share them on SNS.
However, please use them after observing the prohibited items.

Definition of commercial use

Regardless of whether you are an individual or a corporation, the use for the purpose of directly or indirectly obtaining profits such as money is commercial use.
The following usage example is an example, and if there is a description about the usage range in the description of each image maker, that will be given priority.

Commercial use example

  • The act of selling designs using images created with Picrew
  • Use on corporate websites, SNS accounts operated by corporations, etc.
  • Use related to the operation of services, events, etc. for the purpose of profit
  • Use on sites, apps, etc. that have affiliates * 1
  • Use on sites / apps that can receive money, such as live distribution * 2

* 1 Not applicable if the service operator such as a rental blog has an affiliate, etc., and Picrew users do not generate any profit such as money.
* 2 Applicable to commercial use regardless of the actual amount received. It doesn’t matter how you receive it (money, points, goods, etc.) and name (money, gifts, etc.).

exception

In the following cases, you can use it even if commercial is not permitted.

  • When using properly in accordance with the law, such as satisfying the requirements for citation
  • Commercial use by the creator himself (Since the copyright belongs to the creator, there are no restrictions on use other than Picrew)
    • Example: A corporation creates an image maker as a creator of Picrew and uses the image on a corporate site, application, etc.
    • Example: An illustrator creates an image maker as a creator of Picrew, and uses the image to create LINE stamps and goods for sale.

What is the “make” function?

I would like to see the image makers published on the Internet and make my own maker with my own drawings! Have you ever thought that you have an idea, but you can’t make it because you can’t program it?

With Picrew, you can create your own image maker just by registering images. For details, see “Let’s make an image maker” and “List of creator functions”.

Let’s make an image maker

Have you ever wanted to create an icon maker or character maker with your own illustrations?
With Picrew Creator , anyone can create an image maker just by registering an image.

Let’s publish the created image maker on Picrew and let a lot of people play it!

* If you are thinking of posting a derivative work or fan art, please check the following.

How to make an image maker

In order to create an image maker, it is necessary to make plans and draw pictures.
If you think of something perfect from the beginning, it will be a lot of work and you may be frustrated on the way.

After publishing, you can increase the number of items and change the settings, so it is recommended that you do not overdo it at first and try to make a simple one.
Read the basics in order and let’s make it right away.

About the basics of image makers

Here’s a summary of the basics you should know before creating an image maker with Picrew. The Picrew creators and support sites use the following terms to explain their functions.

Image maker configuration

Picrew’s Image Maker consists of the following elements:

Item selection screen

create_maker_panel_item

canvas

An area where the results of combining items are displayed.

layer

The hierarchy that makes up the canvas.

parts

A group to which one or more items belong.
For example, if you are a character maker, there are eye parts, mouth parts, hair parts, and so on.

item

Objects that can be combined in Image Maker.
For example, hair parts items include long hair, short hair, ponytails, and so on.

Operation panel switching button

A button that allows you to switch between item selection, controller, and color selection.
For each part, only usable panels are displayed.
For example, if you can’t change the color, you won’t see a button to switch to color selection.

Image maker information

About the image maker, the title, creator name, usage permission range, description, etc. are displayed.

Controller screen

create_maker_panel_controller

Move left and right

Ability to move parts left and right. You can set how far you can move for each part.

Move up and down

Ability to move parts up and down. You can set how far you can move for each part.

Scale

Ability to enlarge or reduce parts. It can be done up to twice and at least 1/2. The extent to which scaling can be done within this range can be set for each part.

rotate

Ability to rotate parts. You can set how many times you can rotate for each part.

Color selection screen

create_maker_panel_color

Color

A button to change the color of a part. The number of colors can be set for each part.

How to proceed with creating an image maker

I will explain the rough procedure when making an image maker.
Please see the following articles for the elements that make up the image maker.

Procedure for creating an image maker

The image maker will make it by the following procedure.

 1. 1. Creating an image maker
┌ 2. Addition and setting of parts
 │ 3. Add layer
 │ 4. Add color
 │ 5. Item addition
└ 6. Uploading images about items
 7. Sorting layers
 8. release

Layers, colors, and items are added for each part.
Repeat “2. Add parts and settings” to “6. Upload images related to items” for the number of parts to create an image maker.

Add and reorder layers

One or more layers are always attached to each part.
Layers can be sorted regardless of the order of the parts.

When you add a part, one layer is automatically created, so basically you don’t have to add the layer yourself.
However, depending on the content of the image maker you want to create, you may need multiple layers.

When do you add a layer?

For example, suppose you want to create the following image maker.

create_maker_mihon

I would like to make hair parts under the following conditions.

I want the hair parts to look like this

  • I want the bangs and back hair to change together when I choose an item
  • The bangs are on the front (front) of the “body parts”
  • The back hair is on the back (back) of the “body parts”

Problems when there is only one layer

In such a case, if the bangs and back hair are made into one layer, they cannot be placed before and after the “body parts”.
On the contrary, if you make the bangs and the back hair as separate parts, you have to select the items for the bangs and the back hair separately, and you cannot change them at the same time.

In this case, do as follows.
Notice the pink line extending from the “hair parts”.

create_maker_partsandlayer

First, add a layer to “Hair Parts” so that it has two layers, “Hair (front) layer” and “Hair (back) layer”.
After that, adjust the order of the layers and arrange them on the front and back of the “body parts” respectively.

This was hopeful

  • I want the bangs and back hair to change together when I choose an item
  • The bangs are on the front (front) of the “body parts”
  • The back hair is on the back (back) of the “body parts”

Can be realized.

What happens if I add layers and colors?

Colors can be added to each part in addition to layers.
How many layers you have and how many colors you have will determine the number of item images you want to upload.

For example, suppose you want to add color to the hair parts mentioned in the previous section.

There are two layers, “hair (front) layer” and “hair (back) layer”.
There are three colors, “brown”, “red”, and “blue”.

Then, as shown below, an item image of “number of layers x number of colors” is required for each item.

create_maker_item_utiwake

summary

The relationships between parts, layers, colors and items can seem complicated at first.
Also, if you increase the number of layers and colors, the number of item images that must be registered will increase, and the burden of creating images will increase.

You can add it later, so it is recommended to start with one layer and one color without thinking deeply.

Let’s make an image for an image maker

When creating an image maker, the first thing you need is an image of the items that make up the image.
In this article, I will explain how to make the necessary images.

Required image type

  • Item image (PNG format)
  • Item icon (PNG format)
  • Image maker icon (PNG, JPG format)

Broadly speaking, you will need the above three types of images.
There are differences in how to make and upload, so I will explain them below.

Item image

Item images are images that are combined on the image maker.
Please see here for the number of item images that must be made.
How to proceed with creating an image maker

In Picrew, the image maker’s canvas (the area where images are combined and displayed) is 600px ✕ 600px.
Therefore, you need to create an image based on this size.

Basically, there is no problem if the item image can be exported at 600px ✕ 600px .

However, in exceptional cases you may need double the size of the image.
Just in case, with the illustration production software, if you draw the illustration on the canvas of 1200px ✕ 1200px, you will not be in trouble later.

Even if you create it in a larger size, we recommend that you create it in multiples of the canvas size so that you can easily calculate the coordinates etc. later.

When exporting in a size other than the canvas size

If you want to export all parts in canvas size, you don’t have to worry about it, but if you want to export in other sizes, pay attention to the export size.
* As will be described later, you need to be especially careful when turning on the rotation function and enlargement / reduction function.

The size of the item image should be the same for each part.
For example, suppose you have a hat part item as shown below.

Bad example

At this time, if you export the item image according to each item size, the image size will be different.
In Picrew, the display position of the part is set based on the upper left of the image, so if it is left as it is, the item will shift and it will not be possible to display it as expected.

create_maker_kakidasi_ng

OK example

When creating an item image, be sure to export the image in a size that fits all the items in the part as shown below .
The upper left corner of the image (green ●) will be the standard, and the item will be displayed exactly where you want it.

create_maker_kakidasi_ok

When turning on the rotation of parts

Picrew allows you to set the part to rotate.
Rotation is based on the center of the item image, so if you create it with 600px ✕ 600px, it may not move as expected.

When creating an item image with 600px x 600px

If you created an item image with 600px x 600px, rotate this item and it will look like the one on the right.
If you want to rotate around the center of the ribbon, this won’t work.

create_maker_rotate_600

Center
dotted line of item image… Image size

If you export the image considering the center

As shown below, if you export the image so that the center of the ribbon is the center of the item image, you can rotate it as you want as shown on the right.
As mentioned above, the item image needs to be created uniformly within the part, so when turning on rotation, be sure to consider where the center point of the part will be when exporting.

create_maker_rotate_just

When turning on the enlargement / reduction of parts

Also, if you turn on scaling of a part in the settings, the item image of that part must be uploaded in double size.
(* To prevent blurring or stains when the item is enlarged)

create_maker_scaling_on
create_maker_scaling_off

If you were creating an item image on a 600px ✕ 600px canvas, you wouldn’t be able to prepare a double-sized image when you wanted to add a scaling function in the middle.

Therefore, as mentioned above, when creating an item image, it is recommended to create it based on a canvas of at least 1200px ✕ 1200px.

Also, scaling is done based on the center of the item image, so be careful of the center point when writing, just like parts with a rotation function.

Item icon

The item icon is the image that is displayed on the button when you select an item in Image Maker.
Let’s make the image easy for people who play with the image maker.

Since there is a function to trim and resize the transparent part, you can also use the item image as it is and make it an icon.
It is difficult to create as many icons as there are items, so it is recommended that you try this trimming function first.

In the case of Random Maker, the player cannot select the item, so it is not necessary to register the item icon.

Image maker icon

It is an image displayed in the list on the top page of Picrew.
The image maker icon is not an image needed to run the image maker, so it’s okay to postpone it.
Let’s design it so that it is easy to understand what kind of image maker it is and what kind of image can be made.

Let’s make an Omikuji image maker

Make a fortune with the image maker Picrew.
Omikuji is created with Picrew’s “Random Maker” feature.

Ultimately, we will be a manufacturer that can make the following images.

create_omikuji_mihon

Compared to character makers and other items that require a lot of image materials, fortune-telling and fortune-telling can be made relatively easily with a small number of sheets.
It’s perfect when you want to make an image maker for the time being.

Image maker configuration

The image maker consists of the following parts.

partsItem countNumber of layersNumber of colors
Background parts111
○○ luck partsFive11
Result partsFive11

Image to prepare

Create an image for each part as follows.

partsNumber of images size
Background parts1600 x 600px
○○ luck partsFive600 x 600px
Result partsFive600 x 600px
create_omikuji_img_1-768x377
create_omikuji_img_2-768x603
create_omikuji_img_3-768x603

* Dotted line is the image size. It is not actually drawn.
* The background of XX luck parts and result parts is transparent.

For the time being, there are 5 types of luck parts and 5 types of result parts.
Of course, if there are two or more types, it is okay to have more or less than this.

After creating the image, let’s finally create an Omikuji image maker with Picrew Creator.

Now, let’s finally make a fortune image maker with Picrew Creator.

Procedure

Log in to the Picrew Creator screen with your browser and follow the steps below.

  1. Creating a new image maker
  2. Addition / setting of parts
  3. Item addition
  4. Image upload
  5. preview
  6. Editing image maker information
  7. release

Creating a new image maker

Create a new image maker.
Enter the name of the image maker and select “Random Maker”.

You can change the name later, so enter a descriptive name for the time being.

Addition / setting of parts

Add the following parts.

nametype
Background partsnormal
○○ luck partsnormal
Result partsnormal

This time, I created all the parts with the same size of 600px x 600px.
Therefore, there is no problem with the “position (upper left)” remaining at 0px on both the X-axis and Y-axis.

partsXY
Background parts0px0px
○○ luck parts0px0px
Result parts0px0px

Item addition

Add as many items as you need.
When you create a new part, one item is already registered from the beginning, so add the number obtained by subtracting it.

nameAdditional number
Background parts0
○○ luck partsFour
Result partsFour

Image upload

After adding the item, upload the item image.  Item images can be posted from the item list of each part or by uploading all at once.

Required item image

The item image required for each part is determined by the number of items x the number of layers x the number of colors.
For example, in the following cases, a maximum of 120 images are required.

  • Number of items: 12
  • Number of layers: 2
  • Number of colors: 5

If you don’t need the image, you can leave it unuploaded.

For example …
Item A needs an image on layer 1 and layer 2. Item B needs an image only on layer 1. If item B
needs
an image only on layer 1, there is no problem without uploading an image to layer 2 of item B.

Individual upload

On the item list screen, click the frame of the image you want to upload.

Select the file from your computer and save it.

Upload all at once

Advance preparation

When creating an image on a computer, make the file name of the image the same as the item number.
(* There is no problem even if the numbers are padded with zeros. 1.png and 0001.png are treated as the same number.)
If there are colors and layers, create them with the following configuration.

Parts
 ├ Item
 │ ├ Layer 1
 │ │ ├ Color Red
 │ │ │ ├ 1.png

  1. On the Collective Upload screen, select “Upload Item Images Together”.
  2. Select the layer and color of the image to upload.
  3. Drop the created item image.
  4. Upload.

If the file name is not a number, or if the corresponding item number does not exist, an error will occur.
Please check the item list and try again.

This time it’s a random maker, so players don’t select items. Therefore, the item icon is not needed.

Preview

After uploading all the images, check the preview.
In the preview, you can see the operation on almost the same screen as the player plays.

Make sure that the items are not misaligned and that the overlap is not strange.

Editing image maker information

Check the preview and if you’re happy with it, get ready to publish it to your players.

Image maker nameGive it a name you like
ExplanationPlease enter what kind of image maker you are and how you want to play.

Image usage permissionPlease select the range that you can use the image created using this image maker. If you have any questions other than the options, please enter them in the description.

Release

Now, the image maker is ready to go.

You’ll need to do a “release” to reflect the settings you’ve made so far and have them play with Picrew.
This also applies if you add items or change settings in the future. Please note that except for some items, it will not be reflected in Picrew unless you “release” it.

Now, the unpleasant image maker can play with Picrew!
Let’s play now and share it on SNS.

Well then, thank you for your hard work!

Let’s make an animal icon maker 1

Create an icon maker with image maker Picrew.
This maker is created with Picrew’s “Kisekae Maker” feature.

This time, we will make a maker of such animal icons.

create_animalicon_mihon2-150x150

The face has many components unexpectedly, and it is for intermediate users because it is necessary to consider the stacking order of layers.
However, when completed, it will be an image maker that will be easy to use for SNS icons and will be widely enjoyed. If you get used to operating Picrew in the beginner’s edition, please give it a try!

Image maker configuration

This time, it consists of the following parts.
If you turn on scaling, you will need a double-sized image, so be sure to decide before exporting the image.

partsItem countNumber of layersNumber of colorsScale
Hat parts311– –
Eye parts311 – –

Layer stacking order

The layer stacking order is as follows.
In this image maker, there is a part in the back of the “kao parts” and a part in the front of the “ear parts”. Therefore, the ear parts are divided into two layers.

Image to prepare

The number of images you need to prepare is determined by
“number of items x number of layers x number of colors”
.

partsNumber of images sizeremarks
Hat parts 3600 x 320px
Eye parts3338 x 130px
Kuchi parts 3300 x 188pxParts for which scaling is turned on are exported in double size.
(* The same size of the kuchi parts is 150 x 94px)
Ear parts 18 18600 x 320pxEven if there are multiple layers, all the images in the part will be created in the same size.
Kao parts 9600 x 600px
Background parts3600 x 600px

* The following sample images are all half scale.

Add layer

The ear parts are made up of two layers.
Let’s add a layer to the ear parts.

Add color

There are 3 colors for the kao parts and ear parts.
Add two colors to each to make a total of three colors.

Add / set items

Item addition

Add as many items as you need.
Whenever you create a part, there will always be one item, so add the number minus it.

There are 3 items for all parts this time, so let’s add 2 items at a time.

Item image upload

After adding the item, upload the item image.

Item icon upload

Upload the item icon corresponding to the item image.

Item icons must be prepared for each item.
No matter how many colors you have, you can only register one icon for each item. Let’s register a representative color.

If you use the trimming function, you can use the item image as it is.
This time, the ear parts are divided into two layers, and there is no image that can be used as it is. Please create an icon image separately from the item image.

Preview

After uploading all the images, check the preview.
In the preview, you can see the operation on almost the same screen as the player plays.

Make sure that the items are not misaligned and that the overlap is not strange.

Editing image maker information

Check the preview and if you’re happy with it, get ready to publish it to your players.

Release

Now, the animal icon maker is ready.

You’ll need to do a “release” to reflect the settings you’ve made so far and have them play with Picrew.
This also applies if you add items or change settings in the future. Please note that except for some items, it will not be reflected in Picrew unless you “release” it.

Now the Animal Icon Maker can play with Picrew!
Let’s play now and share it on SNS.

Well then, thank you for your hard work!

Let’s make an animal icon maker 2

I will explain how to use the left and right pair parts, which is an application of “Let’s make an animal icon maker”.

What are left and right pair parts?

“Left and right pair parts” can express parts that form a set with two left and right, such as eyes and eyebrows. This time, I will explain the eye parts as an example.

In the previous article, I created the eyes as “normal parts”.
If this is created as a “left and right pair part”, it will be as follows.

Difference between left and right pair parts and normal parts

create_animalicon_lrpear_tigai-768x755
If you don’t use features such as rotation, it doesn’t matter which one you create.

Also, normal parts can have more layers as needed, but left and right pair parts cannot.

Select the part type according to the characteristics of the part you want to make.
Let’s create left and right pair parts
Parts will be added on the top page of the image maker.

When adding, select “Left and right pair parts”.

The type of part cannot be changed later.
If you make a mistake, start over by adding parts.
The left and right pair parts have two layers from the beginning, and they are named “left layer” and “right layer”, respectively.
Layers cannot be added or deleted.
Create and register items
Create two types of item images for the left and right pair parts, one for the left layer and one for the right layer.
Create the left and right images in the same size.

When turning on scaling, it is necessary to export the image in double size as in the case of normal parts.

After exporting, upload the item images to the “left layer” and “right layer” respectively.

Icon image

In the case of eye parts, it is easy to understand that the item icons are aligned on the left and right, so write them separately from the item image.

Depending on the part, you may be able to tell what kind of item it is by looking at either the left or right image. Decide whether to create it as needed or to divert the item image.

Left and right pair parts settings

The following items can be set only for the left and right pair parts.
Other items are the same as normal parts.

Right layer position

It is necessary to set the position of the right layer (B) separately from the upper left position (A).
The Y-axis (vertical position) is the same as the upper left position, so set only the X-axis (horizontal position).

Interval adjustment

If you turn on the spacing adjustment, you can adjust the spacing between the left layer and the right layer.

Is it okay to create illustrations based on the character designs created by the image maker?

As a general rule, Picrew and the scope of usage permission set by creators (“individual”, “non-commercial”, “commercial”, etc.) are intended for “images created using image makers”.

(Use the created image as an icon, print the image, etc.)
Please do not use other image data, designs, etc.
As an exception, if the creator clearly states permission in the image maker’s description, please use it accordingly.

Please refrain from using it when it is difficult to make a decision without clear permission.

Can the creators themselves use the images posted on Picrew for other creations?

The copyright of the images posted on Picrew belongs to the creators.

There are no restrictions on activities other than Picrew by the creator himself.
Feel free to use it for LINE stamps and goods production.
